Jesse James Kosakowski

Jesse toed the center of the octagon, hands coiled, eyes set on his opponent. He fired his signature side kick and folded his opponent with the force of the blow. The two scrambled, entering a deadlock of body and limb. The crowd erupted into a war cry: “Jesse! Jesse! Jesse!”—goading the athlete to overcome his adversary. Then it was over. Jesse’s opponent lay on his back, furiously tapping as hot agony surged through his arm. Jesse was victorious.

Jesse James Kosakowski is a rising star in the MMA realm. At 22, the Prospect, CT native boasts a 5-0 amateur record and a flawless, four-win streak since his professional debut in January 2018. With two welterweight titles and a growing number of sponsorships to boot, Kosakowski has cemented his position as one of the most promising athletes in New England.

Kosakowski’s martial arts training began at age four, when his father and head coach, Ron Kosakowski, began teaching him the science of Jeet Kune Do. Jesse could scarcely walk when he first began perfecting his technique, and it wasn’t long before he began dominating the combat sports arena.
He won his first grappling tournament at age 10, and would go on to win many North American Grappling Association (NAGA) competitions throughout his early years. He also had notable success in a variety of kickboxing, boxing, modified-rules MMA, and Combat Jiu Jitsu tournaments—earning his fighting laurels well before the age of 18. It was this early exposure to the realm of fighting that prepared Kosakowski for his current success in mixed martial arts.
Today, Kosakowski is an Associate instructor of Jeet Kune Do and Integrated Grappling Systems (IGS) at the Practical Self Defense Training Center in Waterbury, CT. He continues to hone his Jeet Kune Do and IGS under his father, and trains twice daily with Coach Robert Beamon and a number of instructors throughout the tristate area. Among his training partners is mixed martial artist Nick Newell of FAA CT.
